Top Chef Returns By: Ryan Mathews |
| |
Yes Top Chef is back on the Bravo Network for another season, and so far it looks pretty good. And I say that as someone who thought last season was very weak.
This time around, Top Chef takes place in New York City, the food capital of the world, and the setting seems to have turned up the heat, and made the competition that much better.
In the first episode the chefs had to draw their inspiration from New York City and the diverse cultures that make up the worlds largest melting pot. The big surprise was that two chefs were eliminated. One chef was eliminated during the quick fire round and another in the elimination round. Ironically, the chefs that were eliminated just happened to know each other.
But eliminations aside, it seems as though the competition is going to be really good this season. All the chefs seemed to perform really well in the first challenge, and no one seemed to stand out as a weak link. Tom Colicchio said it best at judges table when he said that if the food that they saw is any indication of what the judges are in store for, it is going to be a very good season.
Even though no chefs stood out as obvious losers, one chef did stand out as an obvious winner. Stefan, the winner of the first elimination really seems to be a cooking force. He is the only chef that really seemed to have full control. He never once lost his stride from the quick fire, all the way to judges table.
I hate to make predictions so early in the season, but I have a feeling that he will make it to the end, and perhaps take the whole competition. But only time will tell what will happen.
If you haven’t seen Top Chef you should really check it out. There’s a reason that it’s the number one food show on cable, Top Chef really cooks! Top Chef is on the Bravo Network every Wednesday night 10:00 PM EST.
