Thinking about a Home Theatre?

The latest rage in home entertainment has to be the home theatre.

The words home theatre probably conjures up images of a ceiling mounted projector and a cabinet full of equipment, but having an awesome home theatre can be easier, less expensive and far more modest than you might have guessed.

The measure of a great home theatre system is usually defined by the “wow” factor, and how impressed you, your family and friends are by the viewing experience in your living room. If you have been considering building your home theatre, consider the following as you begin your quest.

The first thing that every home theatre needs is a DVD player. The best part about DVD players is that the cheap ones work just as good as the expensive ones. In essence, you’ll get the same great picture from a DVD player that cost $50.00 as you will from a DVD player that costs $500.00. Of course, the more expensive DVD players are bound to come with more features, when it comes to display quality, any DVD player will do.

The next thing you need is a good television. This is where it gets a little more complex and where it can get very costly. But perhaps the most important thing to consider is the size of the room the television will be going into. You don’t want to get a television that is too big for the room. A 52 inch screen is perfect for the typical living room. Anything bigger really requires a bigger room to fit in without literally taking over the room.

The last essential component for the home theatre is the surround sound system. Here again the costs get quickly get out of control. But unless you are really into audio, a sufficient surround system can be picked up for around $100.00. The thing to look for is a system that is a digital 5.1 surround audio system, that features two up front speakers, two rear speakers, one center speaker and one subwoofer.

If you are new to the idea of a home theatre, the best thing to do is to start small and upgrade your equipment as you outgrow your current equipment. And since home theatre equipment gets better every year, starting small will ensure you’re not overspending and over purchasing on something that will quickly be outdated.

Owning a home theatre is a great way to enjoy your favorite movies or just for watching TV. As with any purchase, just make sure you do your research and comparison shop before you purchase so you are sure your getting the best product for the best price. After that, sit back and enjoy.
