Giving a Wedding Gift By: Loretta Legend |

If you have been invited to a wedding, whether it is for a family member or a friend, giving a gift isn’t an option, but coming up with the right gift idea can really be a challenge. Many couples with create a registry and pre-select items to help their wedding guests give gifts that the couple really need. But giving a gift like a crock-pot, or a pots and pan set may not send the message you want the new couple to receive.
If you have a wedding you need to buy a gift for, take a look at the flowing suggestions to see if there’s something you might consider, or at least gets you thinking outside the box:
No doubt the number one gift idea is money. Every couple needs it. It can be used for everything, and because you set the actual amount, you can make sure it fits into your budget. Oh and most importantly, it’s what the couple really wants anyway. When in doubt, give the gift of cash.
If the couple has already purchased a home, consider giving something that will help them out as they transition to their new home. Pre-paid window washing or gutter cleaning service is a great place to start the idea process. If they have a lot of land perhaps you could give some tree saplings or other yard and garden features that will make their new house feel more like a home. Let you creative juices flow on this one.
Something that ages well. Perhaps consider giving something like a fine bottle of wine or scotch or something that is intended to age. A 10 year old bottle of scotch with a note that says open me on your ten year anniversary is a really cool gift idea, and it’s something that gets better with time and that the couple can hold on to through the years.
Finding the right wedding gift can be a challenge at first, but take the time and think about the couple, learn where they are in life and what they need and you’ll be sure to come up with a great gift idea that will say exactly how you feel.
