Tantric - The End Begins |

Tantric The End Begins Silent Majority Group
Hugo Ferreira was left with nothing. He was left standing alone, without a band or a record label, and the only thing he did have was a completed album he couldn’t touch.
But that was then, and this is now.
Tantric, yes, that Tantric, has a new album, and a new band, in The End Begins. A lot of people thought this band was dead after Maverick Records folded and they sort of went away. Don’t worry, Hugo Ferreira is still front and center lending his pipes to the project, but his surrounding cast might not look familiar to you. Well, all but one maybe.
His new drummer, Kevin Miller handled the drumming for a band you might have heard of before, Fuel. The rest of the guys, Joe Pessia, Erik Leonhardt and Marcus Ratzenboeck, have been hand picked by Hugo himself to help resurrect Tantric.
Tantric just wouldn’t be Tantric without Ferreira’s passionate, trademark smoky rasp, and this record is surely a showcase of that fact. His voice is as good as it has ever been, and to some degree might be even better now.
The End Begins works two ways; it will surely go a long way to make new fans of the band and at the same time will definitely satisfy old fans. Regret is a solid effort to open the outing, but the real treasure of the album comes in the form of the single, Down and Out. Tantric have added some other elements to their music, including a lot more violin, and it is something you will surely notice. The hooks are better this time around, and for as good as their songs have been in the past (Breakdown, Mourning), songs like Something Better and Lucky One could be much in the same.
The End Begins is the best Tantric record yet. It shouldn’t take too many listens for you to agree with me.
Grade: B Listen to: Down and Out, Lay
